JAKARTA - The hip-hop musician duo are Tuan Tigabela and Yacko representing Indonesia to appear at the world-renowned festival South By Southwest (SXSW) 2023 held in Austin, Texas, United States on March 10-19.

The two appeared in a performance session titled Tiger Den which was the first event in SXSW's history by featuring a row of musicians from Asia and Asian diaspora. Tiger Den is curated by a well-known alternative k-pop band and collective of Balming Tiger and Jaded, a United States entertainment company dedicated to Asian culture.

"This is an honor for me because I always carry the spirit of the Sumatran tiger in my music. Now, my music can simplify on the Tiger Den SXSW 2023 stage," said Tuan Tigabelas quoted from Antara, Tuesday.

Meanwhile Yacko admitted that his performance at SXSW this time was a real dream.

"For us, this feels like a dream come true! Sharing the stage in Indonesia alone still feels exciting, let alone collaborating abroad," Yacko explained.

The achievements of Tuan Tigabelas and Yacko followed in the footsteps of a number of Indonesian musicians who had performed on SXSW such as Green House Effects, White Shoes & The Couples Company, The SIGIT, and Shaggydog.

At this year's festival, as many as 19 musicians appeared on two stages of Tiger Den which took place at Cheer Up Charlies in downtown Austin. Balming Tiger, who late last year collaborated with RM BTS, became the main star of Tiger Den's title.

Apart from Yacko and Tuan Tigabelas, a number of other Asian musicians also appeared including pop musician Singapore Shye, musician R&B Malaysia Lunadira, Filipino pop singer Ena Mori, and several DJs from South Korea.
