James Hetfield Says Metallica Members Are Just Ordinary Musicians

JAKARTA - James Hetfield claims that Metallica is an "on average" musician.

In a new interview with Cigar Afficionado magazine, the Metallica vocalist said, "I know individually, we are all mediocre musicians."

He later claimed that something special happened when the four of them worked together.

"When you put us together, something happens," he explained. "Something really happened."

Last December, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said he was "unqualified" to play with Rush in a tribute concert to Taylor Hawkins.

At the first show which took place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 3 September, in honor of the late Foo Fighters drummer Ulrich joined Brian Johnson from AC/DC and members of The Foos who were still surviving to perform a pair of hit songs belonging to the band made by Brian: Back In Black and Let There Be Rock.

Later, in LA, he joined Sebastian Bach,▁terkenaler Butler of Black Sabbath and Foos to feature Paranoid and Supernaut.

"I mean, I love Rushes," Ulrich said. But if they say, 'Go up and play 2112 with Alex [Lifeson] and Geddy [Lee], I will go, 'I think there is someone who is more qualified to play it than me.'

Elsewhere in an interview with Cigar Acficionado, Hetfield said: "The initial show with Metallica was very difficult" I was very shy. I don't want to talk.
