JAKARTA - In an interview with Barstool Backstage, drummer Jay Weinberg discussed his routine before appearing on stage with Slipknot.

Not without reason. This metal band from Iowa is known to be energetic at the concert, so it has the potential to drain the strength of its personnel.

"We're more like an athletic team - we're more like a team than a band in a lot of ways," Weinberg said.

"With so many people, and this and that, we have a team mentality and a sports mentality about what we do," he continued.

Given that groups like Slipknot rely on physical, Weinberg has a list of routine health checks every day.

"Sometimes we fly on day shows, and it sucks. But I eat exactly the same thing every day; I drink almost the same amount of water every day; I know exactly when I'm going to eat before the show; I know exactly when I'm going to start going into room hours and start stretching and this and that," he explained.

"I'm going to play a lot of songs alone. We'll be playing maybe two, three, four songs with me in the room. And when we finish playing third or fourth or something, our tour manager comes into the room. He's, like, 'You guys have been on stage in five minutes.' And then it's like crazy, and I will, like, 'Oh, bad luck. I have to wear my mask.'"

Wienberg replaces Joy Jordison who died in 2013.
