The 'Grim' Guild Of System Of A Down, RATM, And A7X Members On Radiohead Songs

JAKARTA - Drumer System Of A Down (SOAD), John Dolmayan, guitarist Rage Against The Machine (RATM), Tom Morello, and vocalist Avenged Sevenfold (A7X), M Shadow allied themselves with Radiohead's song, Street Spirit (Fad Out).

The single is taken from Dolmayan's upcoming solo album These Gray Man. It will also feature covers of Madonna, Eminem, and Two Door Cinema Club.

"I love the gloom of this song, (like) you are in the room and it's rainy outside, it's cold, and your boyfriend dumped you," the drummer told Rolling Stone of his decision to rework Street Spirit (Fade Out).

"But when I listen to it, I'm like saying, 'I kind of wish the drums were up front,' or, 'How would [John] Bonham approach this song if it was [Led] Zeppelin?' Since I'm a fan of this song, I wanted to make the version (which I wanted) of it as a tribute. "

The album, due for release on February 28, will also feature two songs featuring SOAD vocalist Serj Tankian. This is the first piece of music they have recorded together since Tankian's 2007 solo album, Elect The Dead.

Meanwhile, SOAD, although they have entered the studio several times since they declared their vacuum in 2011, no new songs have come to the surface. In 2018, Tankian et al tried to work on a new album but were disturbed by differences in the creativity of the personnel.

Meanwhile, bassist Shavo Odadjian recently revealed in an interview with SiriusXM that SOAD had ideas for a new song but so far no music has been recorded. He said that if he were a decision maker SOAD would never stop and be able to record their current ninth or tenth album.

“Two years ago, we got together, the three of us - minus Serj, because, at that moment, he was focused on a lot of solo things - and we were, like, We didn't want to wait. Let's just go in and see what we can do. And we went in and wrote about 10 or 11 songs, "said Odadjian.

"The material is very good. The idea came out really great. And I hope to one day go back there and use some Serj material. I know Serj has some material. "

When asked why SOAD was unable to complete their long-awaited full album, the bassist replied: "In my world, my friends, why doesn't that happen is a big question."

Guitarist and songwriter Daron Malakian followed up on Shavo's comments saying the project would not happen anytime soon. He said, band personnel have different ways of writing songs in the studio.

Despite these struggles, SOAD will return to the UK next summer to headline the Download Festival. They will complete the line up of the event with KISS and Iron Maiden.
