YouTube Music Will Stop Use Of Locations In Providing Music Recommendations

JAKARTA - One way for YouTube Music to offer music recommendations for its users is to find out their current location. A few days ago, Google decided to stop using the location to recommend music, starting at the end of September.

"On September 26, we will stop using the exact location as one of those inputs. More about what's happening below," said one of YouTube's teams, Hazel through its announcement on Google Community Support.

Previously, if you had selected the location permit for the YouTube Music application and Google Location History, the company would use your location to personalize your music experience.

For example, if you're in the gym, YouTube Music will provide a playlist for exercise at the gym, Focus Supermix at work, or a playlist to relax at home.

However, Hazel revealed that Google has found other more appropriate ways for its users to find suitable music. So now, you can find music for exercise, focus, and other activities in the activity bar at the top of the Home.

"We think this is a better approach to helping you voice your day," he added.

By stopping using location on YouTube Music. Google will remove all appropriate location-based recommendations, location settings, and app permissions.

"We also deleted all YouTube Music data from your exact location. This change will take effect on September 26," the company concluded.

It should be noted that other features such as song recommendations based on the weather in the country you live in will not affect.
