JAKARTA - Ahead of their performance at the Hammersonic Festival in March 2020, thrash metal giant Testament has announced their new album.
Vocalist Chuck Billy confirmed in an interview with radio station Milwaukee that the recording process for the follow-up album Brotherhood Of The Snake, which was released three years ago, has been completed.
"I don't know about the surprises, but I think we definitely keep the Testament fans always getting something new, always different, but it's still Testament," said Billy. Launch Blabbermouth, Monday, December 30.
"So I think again that Eric (Peterson, guitar) really caught some new riffs. The mix is very Testament, like before, but I think there are a lot of different moods in the record," he continued.
Previously, in an interview with Inquisitr in 2018 Billy said the new Testament album would contain ballad songs. Now the frontman has revealed that the album will not contain such material.
"We are experiencing some gloomy conditions, but I would not say we will get ready to try writing ballads," he said.
"When Atlantic Records supported us, they always wanted singles and music videos, and everything was always leaning towards ballads," he explained. "So, that's a place where back in those days. But we were long past that time."
Billy then explained that in this new album he uses a melodic vocal character and displays a much less death metal sound. He also discussed the two songs that will appear on the album.
"On this album, there's a song called Children of the Next Level, and it's a song that really comes together both musically and lyrically. There's one more thing on this album, actually, the first time I heard this song, I kind of mimicked it. a vocal pattern. It's a song that's, like, 'Wow!' I got inspired and put the first feeling of what I felt until it finally became a killer song, "explained the big vocalist.
The as-yet-untitled new Testament album is re-recorded with Juan Urteaga and mixed by veteran British producer - and current Judas Priest touring guitarist - Andy Sneap.

Billy et al will work with Exodus and Death Angel on a European tour titled The Bay Strikes Back 2020. The trip will start on February 6 in Copenhagen, Denmark and will hit 25 cities before ending on March 11 in Hannover, Germany.
