JAKARTA - The national motorcycle market again showed positive signals in April 2026 after weakening in the previous month. Based on the latest data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), the distribution of motorcycles in wholesale or from the factory to dealers increased compared to last March.
Total domestic motorcycle sales in April 2026 were recorded at 520,972 units. This figure increased by around 16 percent compared to March 2026 which was only at the level of 448,974 units.
However, this increase is still not able to cover the large decline that occurred in the previous period. As an illustration, motorcycle sales in February 2026 touched 587,354 units before finally falling around 23 percent in March.
On the other hand, the sales performance of April 2026 still provides encouraging news when compared to the same period last year. On an annual or year-on-year (YoY) basis, national motorcycle sales jumped around 28 percent from 406,691 units in April 2025 to 520,972 units this year.
The increase also contributed to the cumulative sales growth throughout the first four months of 2026. As quoted by VOI, Friday, May 15, from January to April, the total distribution of domestic motorcycles has reached 2,135,063 units.

"The prediction in 2026 is 6.4 to 6.7 million units, so far it is still quite positive. The prediction of the motorcycle market in Indonesia is still quite stable," said AISI Commercial Sector Head Sigit Kumala, not long ago.
Previously, AISI explained that the decline in motorcycle sales in March 2026 was influenced by the 2026 Lebaran holiday period. The Association also confirmed that the weakening was not caused by a decline in people's purchasing power or the impact of global geopolitical conditions.
