JAKARTA - Yamaha officially presents the Tricity 300 ABS in Japan as a premium three-wheeled scooter designed for daily use. This model targets riders who prioritize better stability compared to conventional scooters.

One of the main attractions of the Tricity 300 ABS lies in the LMW (Leaning Multi-Wheel) technology. The system allows the dual front wheel to still maneuver naturally when cornering, so the rider still feels the sensation of riding like a two-wheeled motorcycle.

Launching Autoby, Friday, May 15, the technology also provides better stability compared to the average three-wheeled vehicle. This motorcycle was developed with the concept of Smart Commuting Way which focuses on agility and comfort for daily mobility.

However, its dimensions still support the use of long distances and travel on highways at high speeds with confidence. Dimensionally, the Yamaha Tricity 300 ABS has a length of 2,250 mm, a width of 815 mm, and a height of 1,470 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,595 mm.

The height of the seat reaches 795 mm and the total weight is 237 kg, confirming the character as a large-sized three-wheeled scooter that prioritizes comfort and driving stability. For the powertrain sector, Yamaha equips this motorcycle with a BLUE CORE 292cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve liquid-cooled engine.

The engine used on the European version of the XMAX 300 is capable of producing 21 kW or equivalent to 29 hp at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 29 Nm at 5,750 rpm. The engine's character is designed to be comfortable to use in urban areas and open highways.

Its torque character is claimed to be responsive at low to medium revs to help acceleration and overtaking maneuvers, while still maintaining fuel efficiency in line with Yamaha's BLUE CORE philosophy. The Tricity 300 ABS also uses a V-belt automatic transmission so it is practical to use like a normal automatic scooter.

Yamaha also embeds the Standing Assist feature which helps support the vehicle when stopping or when moving slowly, so that the rider's load is reduced when facing red lights or traffic jams.

In the frame and control section, Yamaha applies the Ackermann LMW Geometry concept to ensure the dual front wheel can work optimally when maneuvering. This system is claimed to provide better confidence than conventional two-wheeled motorcycles in various road conditions.

The braking system relies on hydraulic discs on all wheels and is combined with ABS to increase safety when making sudden braking or when crossing slippery surfaces. The tire size uses 120/70-14M/C in the front and 140/70-14M/C in the back, while the fuel tank has a capacity of 13 liters.

For the Japanese market, Yamaha offers two color options, namely Pastel Dark Gray and Metallic White 6. Both color options have been available since the model was marketed in July 2025. Regarding the price, the Yamaha Tricity 300 ABS is priced at 1,045,000 yen in Japan, or equivalent to Rp. 115 million.

The price is indeed high for the 300cc scooter class, but Yamaha considers the price tag to be worth the dual front wheel technology, increased stability, and various driving assistance features offered.
