JAKARTA - Royal Enfield's first electric motorcycle is increasingly showing its readiness for production lines. The latest Flying Flea (FF C6) model is seen undergoing testing in Chennai without camouflage, presenting the clearest picture so far about the brand's first EV for the Indian market.
If the test unit was always closed, this time's appearance indicates that the launch preparation stage is in an advanced phase. The FF C6 was first exhibited at last year's EICMA event and is projected to launch in the first quarter of 2026.
A number of prototypes have indeed been tested in various regions of India, but this is the first time the motorcycle has appeared in public traffic. These spy photos were shared by automotive enthusiast Revanth, which was reported by Rushlane, Friday, February 20.
The uncamouflaged look confirms that the production version remains faithful to the concept design. The design lines strongly adopt the inspiration of the Flying Flea of the World War II era, confirming Royal Enfield's consistency in carrying the heritage DNA in the midst of electrification transition.
From the circulating photos, a number of distinctive features can be seen such as round headlights, girder-type front forks, minimalist body panels, large-sized alloy rims, prominent open frames, and belt drive systems on the right side.
The battery area retains the striped details previously introduced on the concept version, while the overall silhouette looks sleek and clean with a classic cruiser feel. Interestingly, the latest test unit also seems to be equipped with major standards that were not previously clearly visible.
The presence of this feature gives practical value for daily use, especially for parking and maintenance, small but relevant details for Indian consumers. The driving position looks upright and relaxed, in line with the cruiser's character, with a compact-sized rear seat that can still be removed as in the previous prototype.
Regarding performance, Royal Enfield has not opened official data. However, the FF C6 is expected to offer the equivalent capabilities of a 250cc to 350cc gasoline motorcycle, with an electric motorcycle configuration in the middle, belt drive, disc brakes on both wheels, and dual-channel ABS potential.
The battery pack is estimated to range from 4 to 5 kWh with a realistic range of 100 to 150 km. Previous reports also mention the possibility of using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that are known to be safer and more durable, combined with technologies such as magnesium battery casing to reduce weight, active thermal management, cell-level temperature monitoring, and IP67-rated protection.
In terms of features, the FF C6 is believed to carry a circular digital instrument panel with Bluetooth connectivity. Its functions are estimated to include turn-by-turn navigation, call and message notifications, music control, to a keyless ignition system.
With the camouflage-free testing now underway in Chennai and the appearance of a production-ready form, Royal Enfield is believed to be preparing for an official launch announcement in the near future. Although the manufacturer is also seen testing the S6 FF scrambler and the HIM-E electric concept, the Flying Flea is said to be the first electric model to be truly marketed.
