JAKARTA - India Yamaha Motor celebrates Yamaha's 70th global anniversary by presenting a limited special price program for their entry-level sport line, the Yamaha R15. This program is valid starting January 5 and provides a discount of 5,000 rupees or Rp900 thousand for all R15 variants marketed in India.

Launching from Gaadiwaadi, Tuesday, January 6, the price of the Yamaha R15 is now open from 150,700 rupees or Rp28 million (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price adjustment is aimed at expanding consumer access, especially young riders and first-time buyers in the sports motorcycle segment.

This birthday price program is temporary and its implementation may be slightly different at each dealer, depending on local policies. With the new scheme, Yamaha rearranged the position of the three R15 variants based on their completeness and character.

The most affordable variant, the R15 S, is now marketed with a price tag of Rs 150,700 as the cheapest entry into Yamaha's supersport family. On top of that, the R15 V4 is sold for 166,200 rupees or Rp30 million with additional electronic devices and more premium components.

Meanwhile, the R15 M occupies the highest position with a price of 181,100 rupees or Rp33 million (ex-showroom, Delhi). Since it was first introduced, the Yamaha R15 is widely known thanks to its aggressive racing design, consistent engine performance, and relatively good fuel efficiency in its class.

The popularity of this model is reflected in the production figures which have exceeded one million units in India. In terms of technology, the entire R15 series carries a 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system.

The engine is supported by Yamaha's signature DiASil cylinder technology and is combined with a Deltabox frame that plays a major role in delivering precise handling characteristics and stability at high speeds. The features embedded are also complete for their class.

Starting from the Traction Control System feature, Assist & Slipper Clutch, Upside-Down front fork, Linked Monocross rear suspension, to Quick Shifter on certain variants. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 18.4 PS at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.2 Nm at 7,500 rpm, which is channeled through a six-speed constant mesh transmission.
