JAKARTA - Italian helmet manufacturer Caberg has introduced a new breakthrough in the world of two-wheeled driving safety. Through an innovative system called SOS Medical ID, Caberg allows riders' important information to be stored directly in the helmet and can be accessed quickly in case of an emergency.
Reported by Motorcyclenews, Saturday, January 3, SOS Medical ID is a microchip-based system that is fully integrated into a motorcycle helmet. This technology is designed to store personal data, crucial medical information, to emergency contacts.
The result, the data can help medical officers or first parties who help at the scene quickly. This system was developed directly by Caberg which is headquartered in Bergamo, near Milan.
According to Caberg, SOS Medical ID utilizes NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, so that data can be accessed very easily by attaching a smartphone to the helmet. Considering, currently almost all modern mobile phones already support the NFC feature.
"Just bring a compatible smart phone (equipped with NFC) to a special area on the helmet. Without the need for additional applications, tags, or codes, you can immediately access important information such as allergies, medical conditions, blood type, emergency contacts, and, if available, the rider's location," said a statement from Caberg.
Currently, SOS Medical ID technology is available on four helmet models in the Caberg range. Among them are the Drift Evo II, a full face helmet with a sport-touring style with a price tag ranging from 259.99 euros (equivalent to Rp5 million) to 379.99 euros (Rp7 million), and GP01, a premium carbon racing helmet marketed at a price starting at 399.99 euros or equivalent to Rp8 million.
With the presence of SOS Medical ID, Caberg confirms its commitment to improving rider safety standards. In the future, it is not impossible that similar technology will be applied to more helmet models, making rider protection smarter and more integrated.
