JAKARTA - Honda introduced an electric motorcycle based on the WN7 superbike as a local police fleet (Japan), with the inauguration held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government headquarters.

Citing the 2banhvn website, Tuesday, December 23, this electric motorcycle is quite interesting because it is the first 'pure Japanese' electric motorcycle that has been officially introduced.

This project is not just a show, because Tokyo is targeting all new motorcycles sold in the capital to be gasoline-free by 2035. Introducing an electric motorcycle developed by Honda, although only in the testing phase, as a police vehicle is clearly a very symbolic step.

Basically, the police version of the WN7 was developed from the Honda WN7 EV model which debuted at EICMA Milan. A total of four vehicles were built and will serve as escorts.

In appearance, it gives the impression of being sleek and sporty with front and rear emergency lights. In addition, the single seats are all details designed specifically for the police version.

The interesting detail is that WN7 is an electric vehicle and therefore does not have a transmission, but Honda still added a 'gear lever' on the left side. In fact, this is a requirement from the police to help keep the foot position stable while driving, and its function is more as an additional footrest than a gear lever.

The bike also comes equipped with modern features, including a 5-inch color TFT screen that is retained from the standard version, a handlebar-end mirror and familiar control switches for the siren to the radio.
