JAKARTA - Yamaha is again expanding its electric vehicle portfolio by presenting a new electric scooter called Yamaha EC-06. This model was developed specifically for the Indian market, and was launched simultaneously with Yamaha Aerox E.
The EC-06 carries modern designs and advanced technologies with impressive cruising power, further away from the electric Aerox which is only 106 km. The EC-06 is the result of the evolution of the previously sold EC-05 model in Taiwan.
Yamaha targets EC-06 as an efficient and easy-to-drive urban electric scooter, with a futuristic display and competitive performance in its segment. Reporting from Rushlane, EC-06 is powered by a 4.5 kW electric motor that produces a peak power of 6.7 kW, combined with a battery with a high capacity of 4 kWh.
The power from the electric motor is channeled to the rear wheel through an automatic transmission system. Yamaha claims the EC-06 is capable of traveling up to 160 kilometers in one charge, making it one of the best travel distances in its class.
This scooter supports three driving modes, namely Eco, Standard, and Power. Which allows motorists to adjust their performance to their needs, while backward mode adds comfort in urban narrow spaces.
Charging is easy to do with a standard home plug, and it takes about 9 hours for charging. The battery used is a lithium-ion type.

In terms of design, EC-06 carries an elegant style with a fine body line and aerodynamic curvature. The full digital instrument panel displays various important information such as speed, distance, battery status, and driving mode.
Yamaha also adds a system of starting keyless, smartphone connectivity, and built-in navigation features. This scooter uses a steel tubular framework with a telescopic suspension on the front and double behind.
The braking system relies on the disks on both wheels, and is equipped with ABS for additional security. For the convenience of motorists, EC-06 has a wide leg deck and double seat with an ergonomic position.
Yamaha is also preparing a number of modern color choices that highlight the impression of premium. In India, Yamaha EC-06 is expected to be priced at around Rs 1.35,500, and will compete with several popular electric scooters such as Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.
Yamaha has not announced a definite schedule for its launch, but several reports say its official debut will take place in early 2026. This launch is part of Yamaha's strategy to strengthen its position in the two-wheeled electric vehicle market, which is now growing rapidly in India.
