JAKARTA - Yamaha will launch its newest automatic transmission system called Y-AMT on September 30 in Japan. Another more interesting thing, the latest technology will be embedded in the MT-09 motorcycle which will be released next year.

Reporting from Rideapart, Tuesday, September 10, the manufacturer will replace the six-speed manual gyrboks system with Y-AMT transmission, making it easier for motorists to change their teeth.

Y-AMT does not only focus on dynamics in driving, but also has a weight of only 2.8 kg so it is claimed to contribute to reducing weight on the motorcycle.

This transmission has a faster dental change system compared to conventional manual transmission, even using a quickshifter feature.

With this system, the change of teeth on the motorbike can be done without using the legs. This allows motorists to only focus on using the thrust and brakes and pay more attention to the position of the body when driving.

Although it is not as complicated as the use of conventional transmission, Yamaha designed Y-AMT so that it can be adjusted by motorists in various circumstances. By using the function of 'MT', motorists can make substitutions independently. Drivers can use a manual mode option with their thumb or can move to automatic mode completely.

However, Yamaha also provides manual mode which means motorists control dental movement by activating two pedals mounted on the switchgear, marked '+' and '-' for gear movement up and down.

Yamaha also said that the position and movement of levers had been designed to be easy to operate, with less movement needed to operate the system.

The transmission works using two electronic actuators, which handle the implementation of left-handed coupling and dental movement. Thus, motorists do not need any control.

Y-AMT will cooperate with a shuttle ride by wire system that also allows integrated driving mode and cruise control.

In the use of automatic mode, this transmission comes with the characteristics of changing teeth. The position of D offers a softer feel of dental displacement with lower engine spins.

If the driver feels that it is not enough, Yamaha will present a D+ option that will accelerate the time of dental movement by maintaining higher engine speeds.

Yamaha MT-09 is one of the highest models owned by a brand powered by a liquid-cooled 890cc CP3 3-cylinder engine with a bore and stroke measuring 78 mm x 62.1 mm with a compression ratio of 11.5 to one.
