Suzuki Hayabusa Gets Recalled Due To Braking Problems, Can Increase Accident Risk

JAKARTA - The legendary Suzuki motorbike that is the dream of many people, Hayabusa, must be withdrawn or recalled. This refers to a statement from the Suzuki Motor Corporation which issued a notification to stop sellers, including the Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition in 2024.

Quoting from the Rideapart page, Saturday, January 27, the problem is related to braking issues. Where it allows ABS hydraulic unit coupling nuts not to be properly tightened, causing a brake oil leak from the ABS module.

This condition can result in a longer stopping distance, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

Based on the Suzuki Motor USA records, around 993 motorcycles have the potential to be affected in the United States, this number represents 13 percent of the population. In more detail, the affected bicycle ranks include Hayabusa 2024 and Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition which were produced between 7 July 2023 and 28 November 2023.

Suzuki Motor Corporation, which is the parent company of Suzuki Motor USA, gave a chronology of events that led to the release of the recall. On December 13, 2023, a quality check at the Hamamatsu factory revealed that there was a leak, and identified the cause of the leak as an incomplete reduction of nuts in the ABS module.

Further investigation revealed that an employee in the production line has not followed the standard multi-step tightening process for the installation of these nuts. As a result, it has the potential to cause the component not to be fast.

Under the terms of this withdrawal, Suzuki's authorized dealer will check and tighten the brake pipe nuts, and also adjust the level of brake oil on the affected motorcycles if needed. This service will be provided free of charge to customers.

In addition, Suzuki plans to notify its network of dealers on January 29, 2024. The owner will be notified in a letter scheduled to be sent on February 5, 2024.
