Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Friendly for Women to Daily Mobility

JAKARTA - The view that Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) are synonymous with vehicles for men is now beginning to shift. More and more women are choosing SUVs as daily vehicles, one of which is the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door thanks to its iconic design and practical use every day.

The boxy-style body appearance not only gives a typical classic impression, but also helps drivers estimate the dimensions of the vehicle when maneuvering. This advantage is felt when crossing narrow roads or looking for a parking position in a crowded area.

At the 2026 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), this 5-door Jimny is one of the vehicles that can be tried directly in the test drive area. VOI editors also saw many women trying out this Jimny during GIIAS.

Unlike most compact SUVs, this model still retains the Jimny's typical off-road ability, but now it is more friendly as a vehicle for daily activities. The high seating position is one of the immediate advantages, the driver gets a wider view to the front so it is easier to monitor traffic conditions.

Even though the dimensions are increased compared to the three-door version, this car still feels compact so that the adaptation process for users who previously drove city cars or hatchbacks does not take long. When maneuvering in a parking area, the engine hood design and the sharp body angle make it easier for drivers to estimate the position of the vehicle.

Suzuki also embeds a rear camera and four parking sensors that help when parking a car in a limited space. The presence of two additional doors is the most significant update.

If previously Jimny was more ideal for one or two people, now accessing the back bench is much easier without having to fold the front seat. This makes the vehicle more practical for users who often bring families, friends, and relatives.

Entering the cabin, the atmosphere offered prioritizes function over luxury. The dashboard is filled with physical buttons that are easy to reach so that various features, including air conditioning, can be set without having to open a menu on the screen.

The 9-inch head unit that has supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also makes it easier for users to display navigation such as Google Maps directly. The longer body dimensions also increase the luggage capacity.

Storage space is now easier to use to carry work bags, cabin suitcases, sports equipment, to weekly shopping needs. Although not the largest in its segment, this capacity is considered to be enough to support daily mobility.

When passing through various obstacles on the test drive track, the original character of the Jimny is still felt. The ladder frame chassis does make the suspension bounce not as smooth as an urban crossover, but instead this car gives you more confidence when crossing hills, descents, and damaged road surfaces.

Behind its classic appearance, Suzuki still relies on a K15B four-cylinder gasoline engine with a capacity of 1,462 cc which is capable of producing 102 PS at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The power is channeled through a choice of five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic.

In terms of performance, the figures offered are not the largest in their class. However, the K15 engine is known to have a simple construction, easy to maintain, supported by an abundance of spare parts, and has a tough reputation that gives peace of mind to owners who plan to use the vehicle in the long term.

In terms of safety, Suzuki equips the Jimny 5-Door with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, rear camera, and rear parking sensor.

In the Indonesian market, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is marketed starting at Rp. 498 million for the manual transmission variant, while the automatic version is priced at around Rp. 511 million on the road Jakarta. Suzuki also provides a two-tone color option at a higher price.
