JAKARTA - Nissan officially introduced the second generation Kicks in Japan with a number of significant updates, including the use of the third generation e-POWER system and e-4ORCE electric four-wheel drive technology. This is the first time that e-4ORCE technology is available on the Kicks line.

Looking at the official Nissan Global website, Thursday, June 18, sales of the compact SUV will begin today. The presence of this new model is part of Nissan's efforts to expand the adoption of electrified vehicles in its domestic market.

Nissan's Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales in Japan, Akira Sugimoto, said Kicks has an important role in the company's electrification strategy. This model is expected to be able to bring electric vehicle technology to more consumers through an efficient and comfortable driving experience.

The latest generation of Kicks is equipped with a newly developed 5-in-1 e-POWER system. The technology combines an electric motor, generator, inverter, reducer, and power amplifier in a single unit that is more compact and lighter than before.

The system is combined with a 1.4-liter HR14DDe gasoline engine that serves as a generator to supply energy to the electric motor. Nissan claims that the combination is able to increase fuel efficiency while providing a lower noise level when driving.

To improve performance and control, Nissan has embedded e-4ORCE technology that combines high-torque electric motors with an advanced braking control system. This technology is designed to provide better stability when maneuvering or crossing various road conditions.

On the four-wheel drive variant, Nissan also offers a Snow mode that helps drivers maintain traction and vehicle control when driving on snowy roads.

In terms of design, the latest Nissan Kicks appears more characteristic as a modern SUV. The front adopts the inspiration of the American football helmet design combined with a large horizontal grille and elongated taillights to strengthen the futuristic impression. Some variants also get glossy black accents on a number of exterior parts.

Entering the cabin, Nissan offers a more spacious interior space with the use of soft materials on the instrument panel and door trim. Passenger comfort is also improved through the presence of Zero Gravity seats in the front row and outboard seats in the back row.

The technology sector also received attention through the presence of the NissanConnect infotainment system which has been integrated with Google services. The system is displayed through a 12.3-inch dual screen which provides a more modern digital experience for drivers and passengers.

For safety aspects, all variants of the latest Kicks have been equipped with the Nissan 360° Safety Assist package and ProPILOT driving assistance features as standard equipment. Nissan has also improved the capabilities of the Intelligent Around View Monitor and the intelligent emergency braking system.

Not only that, this SUV is also equipped with Blind Spot Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert features designed to help drivers increase alertness and safety during travel.
