JAKARTA - Toyota celebrates 60 years of the Corolla journey by presenting special editions for a number of models in Taiwan. Ahead of the arrival of the latest generation, which is expected to bring major changes in terms of design and technology.

The Japanese manufacturer gave a farewell touch to the current generation through the 60th anniversary variant on the Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, and Corolla Sport. The Corolla Altis looks the most striking with a bronze gold accent on the grille and intake trim that gives a more premium impression.

This sedan is also equipped with a Corolla sticker on the side of the body, a 60th anniversary emblem on the front bumper, and 17-inch alloy wheels with two-tone combinations. Meanwhile, the Corolla Cross gets a more simple touch.

The bronze accent is only present on the front grille and emblem on the back door. The Corolla Sport appears to be the most minimalist by maintaining the chrome and glossy black accents, plus the anniversary emblem and side stickers.

For the foot-foot sector, the crossover and hatchback both use 18-inch rims with different designs. Entering the cabin, all three models get a bronze gold touch in a number of areas such as the dashboard, center console, steering wheel, to the door panel.

The nuances are combined with matching stitching to strengthen the exclusive impression. Toyota did not make any changes to the mechanical sector for this special edition. The Corolla Altis and Corolla Cross are still available with a choice of 1.8-liter gasoline engines or 1.8-liter hybrids.

Meanwhile, the Corolla Sport still relies on a 2.0-liter gasoline engine as the only option in the Taiwan market. Citing Carscoops, Thursday, May 7, the 60th Anniversary edition can now be ordered in Taiwan.

The price of the Corolla Altis is priced starting at NT $ 815,000 or around Rp. 450 million, the Corolla Cross starts at NT $ 889,000 or around Rp. 490 million, while the Corolla Sport is marketed starting at NT $ 979,000. Toyota is also said to introduce a light refresh for the Corolla line in Japan in July.

It is not yet known whether a similar approach will be applied in other markets such as Europe and North America. Currently, the 12th generation Corolla, which was first launched in 2018, is beginning to enter the end of its life cycle after receiving a facelift in 2022.

The next generation of the Corolla is expected to launch in 2027 with a design inspired by Toyota's latest concept car. However, until now, there has been no official announcement regarding the launch schedule.
