JAKARTA - Mitsubishi is refreshing its electric MPV line with the presence of the Xpander Hybrid and Xpander Cross Hybrid at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show held at the Challenger Hall, Impact Muang Thong Thani, from March 25 to April 5, 2026.

Interestingly, this hybrid model has not yet been marketed in Indonesia, even for the first generation. Both models are minor updates for the 2026 production year.

Although it is not a major change, Mitsubishi has attached a number of important details that make it look fresher than the hybrid version that was first introduced in Thailand in 2024. As reported by Paultan, Wednesday, March 25.

The latest Xpander HEV is marketed at a price of 939,000 baht or around Rp487 million. Meanwhile, the Xpander Cross HEV is priced at 969,000 baht or equivalent to Rp502 million.

Interestingly, the price has not increased compared to when it was first launched two years ago. In terms of design, Mitsubishi still maintains the basic shape of this seven-passenger MPV.

However, the refresh is made to the exterior and interior to feel more modern. The color options offered include Graphite Grey, Blade Silver, and White Diamond two-tone with a black roof.

Entering the cabin, the premium feel is further felt thanks to the use of black synthetic leather seats with copper accents. The instrument panel now carries an 8-inch LCD digital screen, combined with a 10-inch head unit that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Significant changes are present in the safety sector. If previously the main focus was on the efficiency of the full hybrid system, now Mitsubishi has added various driver assistance features such as blind spot warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and six airbags.

The latest version of the Xpander HEV is also equipped with seven driving modes, namely Normal, Wet, Gravel, Tarmac, Mud, Charge, and EV. In addition, Active Yaw Control (AYC) technology is also embedded to increase stability when maneuvering, especially in slippery road conditions.

On the technical side, there are no major changes. This model still relies on a 1.6 liter gasoline engine code 4A92 which produces 95 PS of power and 134 Nm of torque. The engine is combined with an electric motor with 116 PS of power with a torque of 255 Nm, as well as a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1.1 kWh which channels power to the front wheels.

In terms of character, the Xpander HEV is still focused as a family hybrid MPV, while the Xpander Cross HEV carries a crossover approach with a more imposing appearance. The difference between the two lies mainly in the exterior design and visual feel.

In Indonesia itself, Mitsubishi ensures that it is preparing to launch a hybrid model. President Director of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) Atsushi Kurita, revealed that preparations are underway and production will begin soon.

"Now we are in the preparation (launch of hybrid cars). We plan to start production in the first half of this year. And in the second semester we start sending to consumers," said Kurita in Jakarta, not long ago.
