JAKARTA - Nissan released a teaser clip detailing its latest mid-size SUV, the Tekton. This footage is the clearest glimpse so far of the model's exterior design, ahead of its official debut scheduled for February 2026.

Tekton's presence marks an important step for Nissan to strengthen its presence in the most competitive and fast-growing segment in India, as quoted from Cartoq, Tuesday, January 6. From the teaser circulating, Tekton carries a muscular and angular design philosophy, inspired by Nissan's global flagship SUV, Nissan Patrol.

The front is assertive with a large sculpted hood, a typical Nissan grille with horizontal chrome blades, and LED daytime running lights that are integrated and stretched horizontally. The name Tekton is clearly displayed on the hood, as if confirming its position as an important product in Nissan's portfolio.

The side profile accentuates the wide stance through the contained wheel arches and alloy rims. The protrusion on the rearview mirror hints at the presence of a 360-degree view camera, a feature that is now becoming increasingly standard in premium compact SUVs.

At the stern, the C-shaped taillights are connected to the illuminated light bar with the Nissan logo in the middle, combined with a layered rear bumper and a roof spoiler that reinforces the aggressive impression. Dimensionally, Tekton has a length of around 4.3 meters with a wheelbase of 2.6 meters.

This size places it right in the heart of the mid-size SUV segment. The car is built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-B modular architecture, which offers cabin space flexibility and ease of integration of various powertrains.

The interior image from the design rendering shows a premium approach, with a soft-touch material-coated dashboard, glossy black accents, and copper-colored touches. The infotainment system is expected to feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and automatic climate control.

On the highest variant, Nissan is said to prepare ventilated front seats, 360-degree cameras, up to Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. In terms of the engine, Tekton will be offered with several gasoline engine options, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.

The 1.3-liter turbo gasoline engine is projected to be the mainstay. A full hybrid option is said to be under study, but is likely to only arrive in 2027. This gradual strategy allows Nissan to keep prices competitive while preparing for electrification in the next phase.

In India, the price of the Tekton is expected to be in the range of Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 16 lakh or around Rp185 million to Rp297 million, depending on the variant and powertrain. This range puts it in direct competition with established players in its class, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Grand Vitara to Honda HR-V.

With an aggressive pricing strategy and a solid feature package, Nissan hopes Tekton will be able to steal the attention of consumers and seize market share. The launch of Tekton is also in line with Nissan's strengthened commitment in India.

The Japanese manufacturer is rumored to be preparing another model, Gravite, a seven-passenger MPV that is projected to launch first before Tekton. These two new products mark Nissan's efforts to expand its portfolio in segments that have not been optimally worked on.
