BYD Sealion 06 Latest Equipped with Larger Battery and Travel Distance of 710 Km

JAKARTA - BYD has again perfected its electric SUV line through the Sealion 06 EV update. The latest model will be equipped with a larger capacity Blade battery option, as well as a significant improvement in electric motor performance.

In the latest update, the Sealion 06 EV will be offered with two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) based Blade battery options, each with a capacity of 75.616 kWh and 82.732 kWh. Based on the CLTC test cycle, the claimed mileage reaches 620 km for the small battery and up to 710 km for the largest version.

The empty weight of the vehicle is in the range of 2,040 kg to 2,080 kg, with battery weights of 538.6 kg and 571.3 kg respectively. As reported by Carnewschina, Thursday, January 1.

For comparison, the current version of the Sealion 06 EV still uses the Blade 65.28 kWh and 78.72 kWh batteries, with a CLTC range of 520 km and 605 km. The model is sold in the Chinese market with a price tag of 143,800-163,800 yuan.

Not only the battery sector, BYD also improves the performance of electric motors. Referring to data previously released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology or MIIT, the latest version of the Sealion 06 EV carries a motor with a peak power of 270 kW or around 362 hp.

The figure jumps far compared to the previous version which is in the range of 170-180 kW, the maximum speed of this electric SUV is claimed to reach 210 km/h. Even though performance and cruising range have increased, BYD has maintained the dimensions and exterior design of the Sealion 06 EV.

The car still has a length of 4,810 mm, a width of 1,920 mm, a height of 1,675 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. The typical "marine aesthetics" design language of BYD is also maintained, marked by a closed front grille, separate headlights, and translucent taillights.

In terms of sales, the Sealion 06 continues to show solid performance. In November, total sales of EV and PHEV variants reached 35,081 units, becoming the fourth consecutive month with sales figures above 30,000 units.

This model accounts for about 15 percent of the total sales of the Ocean BYD series, with the EV variant recording 17,458 units or almost 70 percent of the total sales of the Sealion 06. Since its first launch in July 2025, the BYD Sealion 06 has recorded cumulative sales of 134,665 units, making it one of BYD's best-selling electric SUVs.
