GAC Hyptec A800 Luxury Sedan Specification Leak, Huawei Technology and L3 Autonomy

JAKARTA - GAC officially opened the pre-order of its latest EREV sedan, the Hyptec A800, starting today, Friday, December 19. This new model, the result of collaboration with Huawei, immediately caught the attention of the 3rd level (L3) autonomous driving ability on the highway, as well as the world's longest ambient interior lighting reaching 6,536 mm.

Reported by Carnewschina, the Hyptec A800 is Huawei's latest technology showcase. This car is equipped with the Qiankun ADS 4.0 Ultra driving assistance system and the HarmonySpace 5 smart cockpit, which promises a more responsive, safe, and intuitive autonomous driving experience.

In terms of design, the A800 features a Chinese-style design language for new energy vehicles, where the front is covered, the front and rear lights are transparent, the lidar is installed on the roof, to the hidden door handles. Its drag coefficient is recorded at 0.275 Cd, with body dimensions, length 5130 mm, width 1966 mm, and height 1500 mm and wheelbase 3.020 mm which gives a comfortable-oriented sedan character.

Interestingly, GAC claims the 6,068 mm long front light strip as the longest in the world on a passenger vehicle, stretching from the front area to the side of the body. In addition, the Hyptec A800 is the first car to carry a three-sided flip up front light to mark the vehicle mode, namely autonomous, normal, or parking.

Plus Huawei's million-pixel smart projection lamp that supports nine lighting patterns, the A800's visual elements look futuristic and functional. In terms of performance, this sedan has undergone L3 autonomous driving tests on highways up to 120 km/h, making it the first vehicle in China to have high-speed test permits at that level.

There are a total of 34 sensors embedded throughout the body, including a 4D millimeter wave radar, high-definition cameras, and solid state lidar for better detection accuracy.

The drive system relies on a 1.5T engine as a 118 kW (158 hp) range-extender, coupled with a 35.027 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that offers a WLTC pure electric range of up to 178 km.

Even so, the detailed specifications of the electric motorcycle and total range are still being kept by GAC to be announced later. Entering the cabin, the Hyptec A800 features an elegant T-shaped layout with a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch center screen, a minimalist center console, to wireless charging.

The HarmonySpace 5 system is combined with active noise reduction technology, a 27-inch W-HUD, and the world's longest 6,536 mm ambient interior lighting. This model comes in six exterior color options: Crystal Purple, Arctic White, Matte Moonlight Gray, Moonlight Gray, Obsidian Black, and Electric Silver.
