Seal 08 and Sealion 08 Become New Ammunition BYD Early 2026

JAKARTA - BYD has unveiled two models that are scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2026 with the latest BYD technology. The models in question are the Seal 08 Sedan and the Sealion 08 SUV.

Citing the Carnewschina website, Tuesday, December 16, the model is under the Ocean series and will continue to increase the model with the launch of Seal 09 and Sealion 09.

Back to the Seal 08 model and the Sealion 08 SUV, both of which are built on the Ocean S concept car that debuted at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show in April, featuring the new generation of the Ocean Aesthetic 2.0 design language.

Taking a closer look at the two models above, for the Seal 08 BYD had applied for a permit in early February, with dimensions of 4,720 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, 1,495 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

There are several variants and for the most basic one has an electric motor developed by BYD with a maximum output of 110 kW (148 hp), combined with a 46.1 kWh Blade (LFP) battery pack, providing a CLTC range of 470 km.

Next, for the more powerful variant has an output of 160 kW (215 hp), combined with a 56.6 kWh Blade battery pack, providing a CLTC range of 545 km.

As for Sealion 08, several sources say that this car will have a length of 5,040 mm and a wheelbase of around 2,950 mm, and will adopt a seven-seat configuration of 2+3+2.

The complete specifications of both will be revealed in detail at the launch next year.
