Ford Mondeo Facelift Officially Launches, Ready To Be A Strong Challenger Toyota Camry

JAKARTA - The joint venture between Changan and Ford gave birth to the 5th generation Mondeo sedan that comes with several refreshments, and is ready to become a strong challenger for Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Based on a report from Carnewschina, quoted on Friday, December 5, Ford Mondeo comes with six variants and is priced from 149,800 yuan to 199,800 yuan or around Rp352-470 million.

In terms of exterior design, it still maintains the overall silhouette of the 2025 model while updating several style elements. Front Fascia displays an eight-sided goal with a chrome matrix pattern, and the previous separate front light layout has been replaced by an integrated headlights that combines daytime running lights.

The back remains using a lightstop, but the rear light element has been redesigned, and the previous silver chrom trim on the bumper has been black. The body dimension remains at 4,935 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,500 mm high, with a wheelbase distance of 2,945 mm.

This model comes with several choices of rim size according to the variant, ranging from 17-19 inches for the highest variant and the size of the 235/45 R19 tire which makes the appearance of the car even more modern.

On the interior, the central control layout retains an integrated display, now expanded to a 1.1 meter wide 4K 27-inch display that stretches across the dashboard. The dashboard and center console have been adjusted, with the front passenger side instrument panel redesigned with floating style. Under air ventilation, physical play control and shortcut buttons added.

Wireless charging pillows are included, and a rotating press lever with an open cup spot replaces traditional persneling levers. The cabinet is equipped with a SYNC+ connectivity system, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, supports Apple CarPlay, quick-start technology, and a 540-degree surround view camera.

Powertrain options include a 1.5T turbocharged machine offered in two output levels (140 kW and 144 kW with torque 263 Nm), a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a power of 192 kW and a 408 Nm torque, or a 1.5T hybrid powertrain that combines 140 kW engines with 96 kW motors and E-CVT transmission. All non-hybrid variants are combined with 8-acceleration automatic transmission.

China's Ford has stated that the Sync+ Mondeo 2026 system uses a fully new architecture and technology, which is different from the 2022 '2025 model, both in terms of hardware and software. Forced increase in the old vehicle system is not recommended, as it can affect driving performance and safety.

For existing owners of Mondeo, Ford China provides an additional exchange program. Qualified owners of the 2022'2025 model can receive up to 7,000 yuan or the range of IDR 16 million for new Mondeo 2026 purchases. This incentive can be combined with applicable national or local subsidies, which allow owners to upgrade to the latest models while reducing some of the costs.
