BYD Atto 2 PHEV Launches Globally With 1.8 Liter/100 Km Fuel Consumption

JAKARTA - BYD launched its newest plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, Atto 2 DM-i, in a global launch that was held in Barcelona recently. This compact SUV is claimed to be able to cover a combination distance of up to 1,020 kilometers thanks to the combination of electric motors and gasoline engines.

By design, the PHEV version appears different from the pure electric variant. The front carries a larger grip to support the engine cooling system. It is combined with a touch of redesign. on the emblem and the exclusive Midnight Blue color selection.

In dimensions, this car is about 4.3 meters long and equipped with 17 inches of rim, LED main light, and full wideth rear light with aerodynamic design. Entering the cabin, Atto 2 DM-i is equipped with a 12.8-inch touch screen, a vegan leather seat, ambient light, and a panoramic sunset.

A number of practical features are also pinned, such as charging wireless phones and additional storage compartments. The bag has a capacity of 425 liters and can extend to 1,335 liters when the back seat is folded.

Atto 2 DM-i comes with two main variants. Active versions are equipped with 122 kW of power or the equivalent of 164 hp with a 7.8 kWh battery which is claimed to be capable of reaching up to 930 kilometers in a combination of batteries and fuel conditions, reported by Carnewschina, Wednesday, November 26.

While the Boost variant offers a larger power output, namely 156 kW or 209 hp, as well as an 18 kWh battery that supports a maximum distance of up to 1,020 kilometers. This vehicle performance is claimed to be capable of traveling from 0 to 100 km/h within 7.5 seconds, with a peak speed of 180 km/hour.

For fuel consumption, BYD recorded a figure of about 1.8 liters/100 kilometers based on WLTP standard testing. In the European market, Atto 2 DM-i is marketed with a tag starting from 32,990 euros for Active variants and 35,990 euros for Boost versions.

Vehicle-to-Load features are also available, allowing vehicles to supply up to 3.3 kW of electric power for external devices. Interestingly, this model is one of the PHEV BYD vehicles that was introduced earlier in the European market compared to the Chinese domestic market.
