Xpeng's Latest SUV Caught On Road Test, M03 Successor?

JAKARTA The circulating test photo shows X Peng preparing a new SUV model called Mona. The prototype unit caught on camera was seen undergoing road tests in China without full camouflage, giving an early picture of its design direction.

From its appearance, Mona carries a fastback style with the roof line down to the back. This approach is different from the shape of the box SUV in general and hints at a stronger aerodynamic orientation.

Launching the EV Arena, Wednesday, November 19, this model is estimated to share a base with the Mona M03 sedan which has already been marketed. M03 itself noted that sales performance was quite significant.

The model has sold around 180,000 units cumulatively and has led sales of pure electric cars segment A in China for a year. In just one month, sales reached more than 16 thousand units.

However, the change from sedan to SUV carries its own challenges. The larger body size and increased weight make the Mona SUV need to offer increased performance and efficiency to stay competitive.

Consumer expectations of coverage in the SUV segment are also higher. XPeng has announced that the Mona line will expand to Europe from 2026 through the In Europe, With Europe program.

The company is preparing a research and development center in Munich, Germany, and plans to produce vehicles locally in Austria. Regarding prices, there is no official information, as an illustration of the current M03 sedan, it is marketed below 120 thousand yuan.

SUV versions are likely to be priced slightly higher, but still rely on competitive value to attract consumers. Amid regulatory changes and reduced subsidy support in its domestic market, X Peng appears to position Mona as a strategic model.
