Mitsubishi Destination Wins Perfect Star ASEAN NCAP 2025 Collision Test

JAKARTA - The latest model from Mitsubishi, which made its global debut in Indonesia, the Destination, has won the fifth-star ranking in the ASEAN NCAP, a comprehensive safety performance assessment program for new vehicles in the ASEAN region.

Destinations scored 34.69 out of 40 for Adult Passenger Protection (AOP), 16.54 out of 20 for Child Passenger Protection (COP), 15.02 out of 20 for Safety Assistance Technology (SAT), and 11.02 out of 20 for Motorcycle Driver Safety (MS). The cumulative score, 77.27 out of 100, is enough to get a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP.

This SUV is equipped with a standard four-airbag feature, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for front and rear passengers, Pedestrian Protection (PP) and ISOFIX for child safety seats in all its variants.

There are also Inter-Urban Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), AEB City, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) for driver and passenger doors, Auto High Beam (AHB) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), available as standard or optional equipment.

ASEAN Ncap assessed that the Destinator's achievements underscore the company's firm commitment to strict safety standards in the region.

"ASEAN NCAP praises Mitsubishi for its ongoing efforts to ensure that its models are equipped with the necessary safety technology," wrote an ASEAN NCAP statement, quoted from its official website, Friday, November 14.

As a medium SUV with a capacity of seven passengers, the Destination has a three-line layout that is wide and characterized by an authentic and elegant SUV design, as well as a premium cabin that offers comfort to all passengers.

The 1.5-liter turbo engine, combined with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) optimized for fuel efficiency and acceleration, produces a powerful and satisfactory response. In addition, while adopting a front-wheel drive system, Mitsubishi Motors combines its advanced all-wheel control technology, including Active Yaw Control (AYC), to deliver safe and reliable motorists on various road surfaces and weather conditions.
