Xpeng X9 Ultra Debuts With Computing 2,250 TOPS, Rely On Three AI Chips

JAKARTA - Xpeng has officially launched the latest X9 Ultra, the latest electric-powered variant of the popular MPV X9, through a recent submission to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology China (MIIT). This version is equipped with three Xpeng internal Turing AI chips, with a total computing power of 2250 TOPS.

TOPS refers to the computing power of a chip or in-car processor, measured in Tera Operations Per Second. This metric is very important, especially in the development of smart and autonomous cars.

In the context of autonomous cars, high computing power (TOPS) is very important because cars have to process large amounts of data in real-time from various sensors (cameras, lidar, radar), It is to recognize objects on the road, make safe and fast navigation decisions, and control car movements accurately.

Launching from Carnewschina, Tuesday, November 11, these two advanced chips will support the large VLA model of vehicles for advanced driver assistance systems. While the third chip will be dedicated to improving the large VLM model in the smart cockpit.

In terms of dimensions, X9 Ultra has a length of 5,316 mm, a width of 1,988 mm, a height of 1,785 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. This model is available with a choice of low-drag 19-inch wheels or 20-inch wheels with multi-spoke designs.

For performance, the two-wheel drive variant uses an electric motorcycle of 235 kW or the equivalent of 315 hp. Meanwhile, the four-wheel drive variant combines a motor front of 235 kW (315 hp) and a motorcycle behind 135 kW (181 hp).

Both variants use lithium ternary batteries supplied by CALB. On the exterior, the X9 Ultra gets an update on the fog light and the bottom front bumper which is now following the extended-range version style, the rear bumper also gets a touch of the new design.
