Assembled Locally, Chery J6T Is Now Available For Pre-Order Without A Long Waiting Period

JAKARTA - PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has introduced the latest variant of the J6 electric SUV, the J6T. Pre-orders are now available, as it's locally assembled at PT Handal Indonesia Motor's (HIM) manufacturing facility.

At the J6T launch event, PT CSI Country Vice President of PR, Budi Darmawan, stated that this boxy-style electric SUV with off-road capabilities already has a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of around 40 percent. With its CKD (locally assembled) status, buyers won't have to pre-order or wait long to have a J6T in their garage.

"The J6T is CKD (Completely Knocked Down) at Handal (PT HIM), with a TKDN like its older sibling (the J6), at around 40 percent. Pre-orders are now available; it's ready," Budi said after the launch in Bogor on Saturday, November 8.

The Chery J6T comes with features and technology that differentiate it from the standard model. Budi stated that the J6T is more attractive with its more aggressive power output, boasting a maximum power of up to 205 kWh and a maximum torque of 385 Nm.

"The J6T presents a bold character with geometric lines, creating a modern, masculine look and conveying confidence," Budi said.

"The J6T delivers a maximum power output of up to 205 kW and a combined torque of 385 Nm. Judging by its performance, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 6.5 seconds. This means this car can be compared to a performance sports car," he continued.

The battery can be fast-charged in just 25 minutes from 30 to 80 percent. Chery claims the J6T can travel up to 441 km for the rear-wheel-drive variant, while the front-wheel-drive variant can reach up to 436 km on a single charge (NEDC).

Despite its public launch, Chery is keeping the official price of the J6T under wraps. The Chinese manufacturer will only reveal the price on November 21, which is most likely at the opening of the 2025 Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW).
