JAKARTA Nissan officially introduced her first electrification pickup named Frontier Pro. This marks a new step by the Japanese manufacturer in expanding the globally friendly vehicle portfolio.

Reporting from Carscoops, Friday, October 31, this car is priced at US$24,800, or around Rp413 million. This makes it one of the most competitive electrified pickups in class.

Developed with its local partner, Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Frontier Pro was first introduced in China as part of Nissan's global expansion strategy. The model is designed to meet market demand for efficient but resilient utility vehicles in various terrain conditions.

In terms of appearance, the Frontier Pro carries a design that combines futuristic styles and typical conventional pickup characters. The front features with a large grille, sharp LED lights, and muscular body that reinforces the strong impression.

Even so, Nissan still maintains an elegant image so that this pickup is not only attractive to commercial users, but also to private consumers. From a technical point of view, Nissan offers three machine options for Frontier Pro.

The gasoline variant uses a 2.0 liter machine paired with automatic transmission of eight ZF-made accelerations and a four-wheel drive system. In addition, there is also a 2.3 liter diesel engine for users who prioritize large torques.

But the most interesting thing is the plug-in hybrid version (PHEV) with a 1.5 liter engine combined with a total electric motor of up to 402 hp. This PHEV version is able to cover a distance of up to 135 kilometers in full electric mode, making it an ideal choice for users in urban areas who want maximum fuel efficiency.

With a tag below Rp413 million, the Frontier Pro is considered a strategic step for Nissan to challenge the global pickup market, especially in the light electrification vehicle segment. Although it has not been officially announced when this model will launch in other markets, Nissan ensures that the Frontier Pro will be exported to various countries in the near future.

Nissan said that the presence of this affordable electrification pickup is an effort by the company to expand the adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles in the commercial segment. "We see a great opportunity to bring efficient, affordable, and globally sustainable utility vehicles," Nissan's representative said in a statement.
