GWM Ora 5 Officially Debuts, Electric SUV Compact Challenger BYD Atto 3

JAKARTA Great Wall Motor (GWM) officially introduced its newest compact SUV in China, Ora 5. This model comes with a fresh design, the latest technology, as well as the first SUV of a brand previously known through the Ora Good Cat electric hatchback.

Reporting from Carnewschina, Friday, September 26, the appearance of Ora 5 still retains the characteristics of Ora with large round headlights, now given a firmer angle so that it looks more modern. The front bumper looks aggressive with large ventilation openings and airways on the right and left sides.

GWM offers six exterior color choices inspired by the world's iconic landmarks, including Aurora Green, Senna Gray, Lake Sayram Blue, Cliff White, Sand Dune Beige, and Linzhi Red.

In terms of technology, Ora 5 is equipped with a lidar sensor on the roof as well as a front, side and rear camera to support advanced driving assistance features. This SUV is predicted to use a third-generation Coffee Pilot Ultra system capable of presenting NOA (Navigacy with Autopilot) features both in urban and toll roads.

Entering the interior, the cabin atmosphere feels modern thanks to large textile cloth panels on the dashboard and doors, available in three color choices: Dawn White, Noon Brown, and Midnight Gray. Entertainment features supported by floating LCD instrument screens, large central screen with Coffee OS 3.0 system, as well as Coffee GPT integration with DeepSee access.

For performance, Ora 5 relies on a 150 kW electric motor, paired with an LFP battery from SVOLT. Battery capacity has not been announced, but is estimated to be equivalent to the Lightning Cat Ora which offers options of 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh with a CLTC range of 555 km and 705 km, respectively.

The official price has not yet been released, but is predicted to compete directly with BYD Atto 3 which is currently being marketed at around Rp272 million.
