Not Selling Even Though There Are Hundreds Of Millions Of Discounts, Acura Injects Off Its First Electric Car

JAKARTA Who would have thought that Acura's first electric car from the Honda luxury car division was very short, even though it was only a year of production.

In an official statement to Carscoops, quoted on Thursday, September 25, Acura confirmed that ZDX production was stopped and that this model would not continue, even for the 2025 model. This decision had to be made after its sales continued sluggish despite being supported by massive discounts.

"To adapt our product portfolio to customer needs, market conditions, and long-term strategic goals, we can confirm that Acura ZDX has ended production," said an Acura spokesperson.

ZDX was built on the Ultium platform owned by General Motors (GM) and shared bases with Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer EV, and Honda Prologue. However, this car has never really succeeded in attracting consumer interest.

An internal source said that incentives for ZDX even reached US$30,000 (around Rp501 million) from the MSRP MSRP (Ecoherent Price Recommended by the manufacturer) price, but still unable to boost sales.

The decision to stop production also coincided with the end of the $7,500 EV federal tax incentives in the US, and only recently after Nissan announced the termination of production of the Ariya EV.

Despite ending sooner than expected, Acura emphasized that ZDX played an important role in their electrification strategy.

"ZDX has provided the foundation we will develop next year with the presence of a purely Acura RSX electric car, which will be produced at EV Hub, Ohio, in the second half of 2026. In addition, we are also preparing the Acura hybrid model," the spokesperson added.

For ZDX owners, Acura ensures full support continues. Purna Selling, spare parts, and guarantee services will continue to be available across the official dealer network.

Meanwhile, ZDX has said goodbye, his twin brother, Honda Prologue, will certainly continue his journey in the EV market.
