Toyota GR Corolla Gets An Increase, Now It's More Powerful And Can Be Purchased Without A Draw

JAKARTA - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) has just announced an upgrade to the Glolla GR which can now be ordered directly at all Toyota authorized dealers in Japan. This is good news, because since its launch in 2022, the Corolla GR has only been available through a very limited lottery system.

Referring to Indo on the Toyota Global page, Friday, September 19, it is stated that official sales will start on November 3, opening wider opportunities for consumers to own this legendary sports car.

The improvement in the Glolla GR is not without reason. Toyota took advantage of the valuable lessons learned from its participation in the Super Taikyu Series in Japan. As a result, the fundamental performance of this car is improved in order to be able to face a more challenging driving environment.

Several points of key increase in the latest Corolla GR include:

The Bodi Lebih Kaku Structure: The use of structural gluing (structural adhesive) is now extended to 32.7 meters, 13.9 meters longer than the previous model. This increase is carried out on the front, floor, and around the rear wheel area, making the body stiffer but still light. This promises a stronger connection between drivers and cars, both on city roads and circuits.

Additional Cold Air Channels: An additional airway is now embedded under the air filter. Its function? To drain the cold air directly from the front grip, especially when the engine works at high spins. This ensures the engine output remains stable even though the temperature in the engine room increases, so that the G16E-GTS engine can emit its maximum potential.

In addition to performance, Toyota also spoils the driver's ears with updates to the JBL Premium Sound System. Now, the system is equipped with a subwoofer in the trunk and an Active Sound Control (ASC) system. This ASC feature will produce a sporty sound from speakers that adapt to car acceleration and deceleration, providing an intuitive racing sensation.

Most interestingly, ASC can produce a "burbling" sound (a small explosion in the exhaust) when the gas pedal is removed. This sound can usually only be heard in racing cars with an anti-lag system, but now it can be enjoyed safely while driving on a daily basis.

Good News For Old Owners

Toyota also does not forget the owners of the 2023 GR Corolla model. They are now preparing a software-based upgrade program that will increase engine torque from 370 Nm to 400 Nm, equivalent to the latest model. In addition, driving modes will also be changed: "REAR" modes are now replaced with "GRAVEL" modes with power distributions of 50:50, and "TRACK" modes can now be regulated variablely, from 60:40 to 30-70.

The upgrade program is scheduled to be available starting spring 2026, with details of the price to be announced later.
