JAKARTA - At the GIIAS 2025 event, Honda brought the concept of Prelude which attracted quite attention. Currently, the production version is officially sold in Japan.

Quoting from its official website, Sunday, September 7, All New Honda Prelude now comes with the Honda e: HEV smart hybrid system, providing an emotional and environmentally friendly driving experience in the electrification era.

Taking a closer look at this legendary sports coup model from Honda, it designally carries the concept of Unlimited Glide which is indicated by the free-flying glider movement in the air. The front of the car is designed low and sharp, while the fine body lines are combined with low posture and width, asserting the sporty character.

The brazing laser technology makes the roof look smooth without molding, while the antenna with glass-printing reinforces a clean impression. Details such as a flush door handle, a black chrome-coated prior, and a blue accent on the front-backward fascia complement the premium feel.

The cabinet features the main color of the two-tone Blue & White which provides a deep and elegant contrast. Driver seats are designed for the experience of sporty driving, while passenger seats offer comfort.

The mudir Prelude logo on headrests as well as ergonomic door-lining designs creates ownership pride. Other interior features include D-shaped steering wheels, metal benchway shifts, and exclusive full-graphic meter clusters that strengthen the nuances of sporty.

Interestingly, Honda introduced Honda S+ Shift technology for the e:HEV hybrid system for the first time. This system presents a virtual 8-speed transmission that creates the sensation of real gear movement even though the car is driven by an electric motor.

The experience of driving feels more lively with Active Sound Control, which produces synchronous engine sound with RPM rotation through an audio system. The new Coasting Control feature allows the car to slow down as in a neutral position, giving the sensation of sliding freely like a glider. Drivers can choose Sport, GT, Comfort, or Individual driving modes that can be adjusted up to six different aspects, including suspension, engine sound, to adaptive cruise control.

Using the same chassis as the Honda Civic Type R, the latest Prelude uses the Dual-Axis Strut front suspension, Adaptive Damper System, a steering system with Variable Gear Ratio (VGR), a rigid driveshaft, and a Brembo front disc brake. A 19-inch rim with a rigid design dampens noise while maintaining stability.

Speaking of safety, the All New Honda Prelude is equipped with standards with advanced Honda SENSING safety technology, which has been specially adapted for this model in order to provide more natural control and driving comfort so as to provide calm of mind and a sense of security for drivers and passengers.

This car itself has a long history as the legendary coupe that was first introduced in 1978 and widely known as futuristic coupe with technological innovation in its time. After five generations, now through the sixth generation, Honda revives the name Prelude as a future icon that combines emotional heritage with Honda's electrification vision.
