Luxury, Expensive, And Historic: JLR Awaken 10 V8 Classic Defender Units Inspired By Winston Churchill Car

JAKARTA Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is again pampering collectors with the latest special edition of the Works Bespoke division. This time, they created the Classic Defender V8 Churchill Edition, a tribute to the legendary Land Rover Series which was awarded to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, on his 80th birthday in 1954. However, make no mistake, this car is not an ordinary replica.

Instead of an old machine, this classic Defender is equipped with a modern 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 400 hp of power. A perfect combination between classic aesthetics and brutal performance.

Citing Autocar's report, Tuesday, August 26, JLR will only produce 10 units from Defender Churchill Edition, making it very exclusive. This car is available in a body style of 90 (hard-top or soft-top) and 110, from the Defender model produced between 2012 and 2016. The price is also not kidding, ranging from 279,000 pounds (around Rp6.1 billion) for the 90, to 295,200 (around Rp6.4 billion) variant for the 110 variant.

To ensure every detail is authentic, the JLR Works Bespoke team even went to the museum in Switzerland where Churchill's Land Rover Series 1 was displayed. They took paint and material samples to ensure a faithful reproduction. As a result, the car appeared in the same Bronze Green color, complete with a 16-inch steel rim.

The interior part is also made very thorough. Jok and trim are covered in bottle Green's semi-anilin Bridge of Weir skin which is almost identical to the original. Another unique detail is a dashboard clock with a blue face and a red line, inspired by Churchill's favorite brand of champagne, Pol Roger.

For performance, these ten units are powered by a natural V8 5.0-liter AJ gasoline engine, which is sucked in, sending 400 hp and 380 lb-ft torque via ZF's automatic 8-speed transmission. This is a force that goes far beyond the original engine, promising a modern driving experience.

This Churchill Edition is the latest project from the Works Bespoke division, following other limited edition models such as Islay and Trophy. With a touch of history, modern luxury, and high performance, Defender Churchill Edition is a masterpiece that will not only captivate collectors, but also Land Rover fans around the world.
