Volkswagen T-Roc Latest Generation Releases First Look With Advanced Hybrid Machine

JAKARTA Volkswagen finally leaked the first official look of the second-generation T-Roc. The official image released features this compact SUV with a sharper roof line, giving a sporty and modern impression.

According to a report from Autocar, Tuesday, August 19, the latest generation T-Roc is scheduled to be introduced in the coming weeks, with a public debut expected to take place at the Munich motorcycle show in September. In addition to T-Roc, Volkswagen is also said to be introducing ID 2X, a small electric SUV.

One of the biggest innovations of T-Roc Mk2 is the adoption of full hybrid powertrain which is the first for Volkswagen's production cars. The system will work similarly to the technology used by Toyota, where T-Roc is capable of being driven by gas engines, electric motors, or a combination of both simultaneously.

Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schryptofer explained that this step was taken due to market needs in some areas.

"We have to do it because South America has a need for a drivetrain HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), and T-Roc is made there for the market, as well as in China," Sch wayfer said. He also added that hybrid technology is now a big theme in the United States following the slowdown in the growth of pure electric vehicles (BEVs).

Although Volkswagen plans to completely switch to electric cars in Europe in less than a decade, Sch Marifer insists that the company will continue to "experiencing" with hybrid vehicles to meet global market needs. This new hybrid system will not be used on all cars with the same MQB architecture, but will certainly be embedded in the Golf and Tiguan models in the next two years.
