Semi-Solid-State Manganese Battery Becomes MG4 Mainstay Anxin Edition

JAKARTA - The MG automotive manufacturer has again made a breakthrough by presenting the second generation of their flagship EV hatchback, MG4

In the latest application for regulation in China, reported by CarNewsChina, Wednesday, August 13, it was revealed that a variant using a semi-solid-state battery was named Anxin Edition. This variant stands out with its latest battery technology based on manganese.

This new model will replace the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery used in several MG4 variants. This change of technology is in the main spotlight, as this manganese-based battery is predicted to offer better efficiency and performance potentials. However, technical details such as capacity and specific travel distance from this battery have not been officially announced.

In terms of appearance, the MG4 Anxin Edition retains the same design as other second-generation variants by displaying futuristic forward light design, lower grip with a honeycomb pattern, and full taillight that extends from side to side.

With a length of 4,395 mm, a width of 1,842 mm, and a height of 1,551 mm, as well as a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, the car offers a wide cabin space and stable handling. To provide a personalization touch, this variant will be available with a two-tone paint option and a 16 or 17-inch rim option.

On the interior, the design is also synonymous with the current pre-sale MG4 model including a two-stop steering wheel, a compact digital instrument panel, and a floating touch screen that is the center of control.

The MG4 Anxin Edition will be powered by a single motor system that generates a maximum output of 120 kW, just like any other variant. News of the official price of this variant with a semi-solid-state battery is expected to be announced in September, with deliveries scheduled before the end of the year.

In comparison, other MG4 models are currently available for pre-ordering at affordable prices ranging from 73,800 to 105,800 yuan (around Rp166.5 million to Rp239 million). The launch of this latest variant confirms MG's commitment to continue to innovate in EV technology, especially in the battery segment.
