Meet the 2026 Subaru Uncharted, a Powerful Compact Electric Explorer with Powerful Features

JAKARTA – The collaboration between Subaru and Toyota continues with the launch of the latest electric vehicle (EV) crossover. Shortly after Toyota unveiled a new EV last May, Subaru has now introduced the 2026 Subaru Uncharted, an electric compact SUV poised to hit the market.

Sharing the platform with the Toyota C-HR, this vehicle is the third member of Subaru's electric vehicle lineup and promises sporty performance and capable cruising capabilities, following in the footsteps of the successful Solterra and Trailseeker.

The 2026 Uncharted, as reported by Subaru USA on Saturday, July 19, is Subaru's first electric compact crossover. Available in three variants – Premium FWD, Sport, and GT – the Uncharted is equipped with the same 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery as the C-HR. The Sport and GT versions come with all-wheel drive (AWD) thanks to a pair of electric motors producing a total of 338 horsepower, making it very powerful in its segment.

Interestingly, the Subaru Uncharted will also be available in a Premium FWD variant with 221 hp, a move that differentiates it from the standard Toyota C-HR AWD. This FWD variant does have lower power, but offers a longer range, namely more than 482 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the AWD version is estimated to be able to travel 467 km. Charging can be done via a standard NACS port at up to 150 kW, allowing for a 10 to 80 percent charge in just about 30 minutes.

Subaru claims its engineers have retuned the Uncharted's suspension to meet the needs of its customers, particularly those who frequently drive on loose surfaces like gravel, dirt, and snow. The adventure-focused brand even states that the Uncharted will offer dynamic performance "on and off-road," emphasizing its adventurous nature. For city dwellers, the Uncharted's turning radius is said to be similar to that of the Crosstrek.

The Uncharted's interior combines Subaru and Toyota technology, featuring a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual USB-C chargers, and the All-Weather package standard on all models. This means heated front seats, wiper de-icers, and a powered tailgate are available even on the base model. The Sport trim adds Subaru's signature X-Mode traction system, a heated steering wheel, and StarTex seats, while the top-of-the-line GT model comes with a panoramic moonroof, 20-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, and a Harmon Kardon audio system.

The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is expected to arrive at US dealerships in early 2026. While specific pricing has not been announced, it is expected to be competitive. With its combination of performance, range, and features, the Uncharted is poised to compete in the increasingly competitive electric compact SUV market.
