BMW M2 Racing Car Arrives In Japan, Price Above IDR 2 Billion

JAKARTA - At the end of April, BMW expanded its race car line by launching the latest M2 Racing being plotted as a race requirement for beginners.

The car was introduced after manufacturers had hinted at its presence since last year and would be the successor to several previous models, namely M235i Racing, M240i Racing, and M2 CS Racing.

Since it is positioned as a car for motorsport needs on racing tracks, of course M2 Racing has been specially designed and is confirmed to be pegged at exorbitant prices.

Quoted from BMW Blog, Thursday, July 10, the compact sedan was offered to independent racing teams in Japan at a price of 21 million yen or equivalent to IDR 2.3 billion based on the current exchange rate. This value does not include a 10 percent tax so that the overall price is higher.

The price is much more expensive than being offered in Europe which reaches 98,000 euros or the equivalent of IDR 1.865 billion and can be distributed through certain BMW M Motorsport dealers.

This car is presented with a fuel tank and fire extinguishers certified by the FIA. In addition, safety aspects such as roll cages have received approval from the international racing agency.

M2 Racing has an Alpine White color pattern with a carbon roof and has a quick-release lock on the engine hood and baggage. The rear side window is equipped with Macrolon to reduce weight.

All units have been equipped with differential-slips to help the car maneuver plus 18-inchhut black rims wrapped in Goodyear 265/660R18 tires designed for racing.

Different from the previous car carrying 6-cylinders with a line of 3.0 liters, M2 Racing carries a smaller 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a power output of 313 hp and 420 Nm torque. Even though the power is quite small for racing cars, BMW claims the output can be regulated so that it can adjust certain racing regulations.
