JAKARTA - BMW launched the Skytop concept last year with a concept design based on the M8 Cabrio Competition model at the Villa d'Este Concourse d'Elegance event, precisely on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.
It was also announced that this exotic-style roadster was produced in a limited way to only 50 units in the world and would enter the production phase. Before starting shipments to customers, this car was caught on camera driving at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, Germany.
According to a Carscoops report, Wednesday, April 9, this production version of Skytop is seen speeding up on the legendary track with camouflage blankets.
At a glance, Skytop does not have a number of significant changes and retains the same design as previously exhibited. The front has a shark-snouting design, inspired by the BMW classic roadster of 507. The front light is designed to be thinner like a sickle.
Interestingly, this prototype-shaped car has the same dark red roof panel and can be opened manually. This is different from the standard M8 Convertible which can open or cover the roof automatically with an intermediary pressing a button.
At the back, the Skytop comes with a pair of fake oval-shaped exhausts. Meanwhile, the original gas disposal section is seen hiding behind the impurity exhaust.

Most likely BMW only provides a Silver Floating Sundown color painted by expert hands. The Skytop will also have the hallmark of a "spine" that stretches along the engine hood and reappears on the back deck cover of the aluminum rod. Meanwhile, the door can be opened through a small wing that extends upwards from the silver trim window.
The production version of the Skytop will use a built-in engine from the M8 Competition, namely a 4.4 liter V8 bi-turbo engine that gives power reaching 617 hp. This is in collaboration with automatic transmission of eight accelerations and four-wheel drive, which is claimed to be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in just 3.3 seconds.
Each Skytop unit is offered at a high price of US$500,000, equivalent to Rp8,486 billion, making it one of the most expensive BMW cars ever.
