Stellantis And Leapmotor Ready To Disburse Factory Development Funds In Spain For Production Of This Model

JAKARTA - One of the automotive manufacturers from China, Leapmotor plans to build a regional factory in Spain as well as expand its production line on the European continent.

Reuters reported on Tuesday, March 25, this was revealed by the Chinese embassy in Spain which said Stellantis and Leapmotor would disburse a $200 million investment for the construction of the factory.

The plan is that the assembly line will produce one of the electric models called B10 which will be marketed in Europe starting in 2026.

The report also said that the two were considering investing in the construction of a factory in Zaragoza, northeastern Spain by not providing further details.

The two companies are now stepping up efforts to increase the procurement of components from suppliers in Spain to qualify for the highest subsidies from the government.

The news continues with previous reports, namely Stellantis and Leapmotor are looking for a location in Europe to produce a model that will debut on the blue continent in September.

Not only that, Stellantis' factory located in Germany and Slovakia is being considered for assembling electric vehicles.

In addition, Stellantis and Leapmotor canceled initial plans to produce B10 in Poland after the Chinese government asked automakers to stop large-scale investments in a number of European countries supporting the implementation of additional tariffs for China's assembled electric vehicles.

The two companies declined to comment on this. However, Leapmotor said that the B10 model was one of the many EVs planned to launch on an outside market like Europe.

Leapmotor B10 is an electric crossover with a length of 4,515 mm, a width of 1,885 mm, a height of 1,655 mm, and a wheelbase of up to 2,735 mm.

In China, this car is offered in two battery options, namely LFP 56.2 kWh with claims a distance of 510 km and 67.1 kWh at a range of up to 600 km.
