Toyota GR Corolla Facelift Officially Sold In Thailand, What About Indonesia?

JAKARTA - The latest Toyota GR Corolla was introduced for the first time with automatic transmission last August in the United States (US) offering a more dynamic driving style. Now, Toyota seems to intend to expand this hot hatch to some markets.

Launching from Top Gear Philippines, Wednesday, December 4, the high-performance hatchback was exhibited at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2024 event while at the same time indicating that this model will arrive at the Southeast Asia (ASEAN) market.

Not only as a display unit, this Japanese manufacturer also sells the car in a white elephant country at a price of 4.199 million baht or equivalent to Rp1.950 billion which makes it one of the most expensive Gazoo Racing (GR) models in the country.

Compared to the previous version, this latest GR Corolla has several changes in its outer view, one of which is on the front bumper to increase cooling efficiency. These changes are needed to accommodate radiators, intercoolers, brake channels, additional cooling, and automatic transmission oil cooling.

In addition to the exterior, the manufacturer also revised parts of the suspension, including the addition of front and rear shock damping. Then, the installation point of the rear arm trailing arm was also raised in order to reduce the symptoms of the squat during acceleration and improve its control.

Built on the TNGA-C platform, the Glolla GR has a low center of gravity with tires from the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 235/40R18 wrapping an 18-inch black-klap rim on the Core and Premium variants as well as a black lava for Premium Plus.

In addition to increasing pleasure in driving, one of the leading brands in the world also presents the safety features of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as a standard for all variants.

Moving to the front hood, all the Corolla GR types come with a G16E-GTS 1.6 liter turbo 3-cylinder engine that can pump up to 300 dk of power and a 400 Nm torque or larger than the previous version.

For the first time, GR Corolla is now here with automatic transmission. Toyota claims the system is designed to be very intelligent and can adjust dental changes to the driver's driving style.

With the presence of the GR Corolla facelift in the Thai market, it will further strengthen the possibility for the model to be present in Indonesia in the future.
