Toyota took part in the biggest modification event in the United States (US), namely the 2024 SEMA Show which took place on November 5-8 in Las Vegas.

In this event, the manufacturer offered various modifications that could attract public attention, including the RAV-X.

In Toyota USA, Wednesday, November 6, the car has a radically compact design inspired by off-road racing vehicles. This concept is the idea of the Toyota Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD), a division focused on accessories and performance improvements.

SPAD engineers managed to bring the concept into a complete vehicle, handling everything from initial sketches and CAD designs to 3D printed components and final assembly.

Toyota Service Parts and Accessories Senior Engineering Manager Jakin Wilson said his party created the RAV-X as a future vehicle for the RAV4 vehicle line for off-road needs.

By leveraging the knowledge and capabilities of high-performance off-road vehicle development over the years, engineers created a concept that fits the wishes of off-road enthusiasts, Wilson said.

Based on the RAV4 PHEV which has 302 dk of power, the division added water-intake for better performance. Although the center of gravity is low, the car raises its height by 2 inches and widens the track by 6.3 inches.

Then, SPAD gave him a 2.5-inch fully tunable internal bypass shock damper at each corner with the front equipped with an external reservoir and the back equipped with a piggyback reservoir.

This helps keep shock lubricant temperatures low even during sustainable off-road use, so the car is ready to run for all conditions.

SPAD is also developing bottom arms control at the front with aluminum tempa material and upper rear support for better durability. Slipping plates at each end and elevated rocker panels have also been made for this car to increase endurance.

Speaking of design, the front bumper took inspiration from the tough Dakar Rally competition. Overall, the package presented has the function to traverse various extreme conditions.

This is also supported by an aggressive and resilient 265/65R17 rubber tire with the back decorated with a sporty roof spoiler as well as a role in the aerodynamic side of the vehicle.
