Mercedes Prepares First AMG Supercar EV, Latest Floor This Decade?

JAKARTA - It's no secret that Mercedes-Benz wants to increase its electric vehicle lineup in the future, including presenting the first electric supercar from the AMG division.

The German manufacturer said that the EV supercar will be an important part of the high-performance division although on the one hand they also want to maintain a gasoline-engined model in the middle of a declining electrification market.

"It's clear that we're going to be using an all-electric vehicle in the Mercedes lineup," said Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe, quoted from Autocar, Wednesday, October 2.

The EV supercar is likely to exceed the power of Mercedes-AMG One with 1,049 dk of technology taken from the Formula 1 racing team. As an illustration, this exotic car has acceleration from 0 to 100 km/hour in just 2.9 seconds.

The car is also likely to have more productions than the SLS Electric Drive at prices above from AMG GT to 160,000 (IDR 3,239 billion) and will compete with the latest Alfa Romeo 33.

Reportedly this supercar will take the basis of the Vision One-Eleven concept which was displayed in the middle of last year with the latest AMG.EA platform. This architecture is specifically designed for high-performance electric vehicles from AMG.

According to manufacturer claims, this platform has a modular design with a long, wheelbase, and varying track width so that it is suitable for use in various models.

Prior to the emergence of this supercar, the manufacturer will launch a production version of Vision AMG first as a substitute for GT 4-Door Coupe for next year. The model will be the first to use this AMG.EA architecture.

The platform has voltages of up to 800V and the latest cylindrical lithium-ion cell battery support featuring the development of silicon-anodes from a battery specialist company from the United States (US), Sila.

Official information about Mercedes-AMG's EV supercar is still kept secret. However, there is a potential manufacturer to introduce it at the end of the decade.
