BYD Launches Sealion 05 DM-i In China, Equipped With Efficient PHEV Technology Fuel

JAKARTA - A well-known auto brand from China, BYD launched Sealion 05 DM-i.

Just like the other newest models, this compact SUV comes with the latest fifth-generation plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivers.

This model is the brother of Song Pro DM-i. However, Sealion 05 will be sold under the sub-brand Ocean while Song Pro is offered on sub-brand Dynasty.

Launching from CarNewsChina, Wednesday, September 25, the Sealion 05 DM-i carries the design philosophy of 'Ocean Aesthetics' by displaying a wide front goal along with chrom accents plus aggressive headlights.

The front bumper has an intake water that contributes to the appearance of a functional and sleek car. The design of the roof is more floating plus a five-stop rim in black, leaving a sporty impression.

The back itself has a rear light strip that is wide from end to end. Sealion 05 DM-i has a compact dimension with a length of 4,710 mm, a width of 1,880 mm, and a height of 1,720 mm.

Moving to the interior, the SUV has a digital instrument cluster with a 15.6-inch touch screen that can be played supported by the DiLink infotainment system developed by BYD.

Then there are gear transfer controls and physical buttons on the center console of various functions, such as driving mode and climate settings. In addition, the model also features wireless charging, USB ports, and NFC smart key access.

Driver seats and front passengers can be arranged electrically with 8-way adjustments. The cabin features orange and blue stitches and the roof is equipped with panoramic sunscreen. This car has 407 liters of storage space on the back and 1,430 liters when the seats are folded.

BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is equipped with a 1.5 liter naturally-asspirated 99 dk engine combined with the latest hybrid DM system consisting of electric motors expressing 160 dk of power.

The model offers two choices of batteries with different travel capabilities, namely 12.9 kWh which has a running capacity of 75 km and 18.3 kWh with a distance of 115 km running with pure electricity.

The battery can be charged with a 3.3 kW charging device. The SUV has fuel consumption ranging from 4.85 l/100 km to 4.9 l/100 km according to the WLTC cycle. The powertrain is combined with e-CVT transmission which provides a smooth acceleration response.

Starting to be sold in China, BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is priced at between 112,800 yuan and 142,800 yuan (equivalent to Rp242.4 million to Rp306.9 million).
