JAKARTA - RM Sotheby's auction Hall will be auctioning a rare and stunning car,tain-Lago T26 Grand Sport Coupe with custom body by Carrosserie Jean Barou at the Tegernsee auction, Germany on 27 July.

This car is estimated to sell between 1.40.000 to 1.600.000 euros (around IDR 24.5 billion to IDR 28 billion).

After changing hands several times, this car disappeared from circulation in the 1960s and was found stored in an unused dance hall with another French car. Only in 1968 or 1969, this car was purchased by Swiss collector Jean Tua.

Tua took care of this car for almost 30 years, including repairing and repainting the body. This car was exhibited in his personal collection in the 1990s and auctioned off in Sotheby's Geneva in 1997.

Austrian collector, Egon Zweim\"uller, then bought it and repainted it in silver gray metallic color, but maintained its original interior. He briefly showed off this car at Bagatelle Concourses d'Elegance in 1998.

The owner last bought it in 1999 and took care of it for more than 25 years. Now, this car is a rare opportunity for French car lovers to own a charming vehicle with a history of extraordinary ownership.

Barou's Unique Design

The Tackle-Lago T26 Grand Sport Coupe is believed to be the only one with a custom body made by Barou. This elegant but not excessive couple-style body was influenced by Jaguar XK's design of 120 of 1948 and a BMW race car in the 1930s, mainly seen in typical vertical radiator grips. Meanwhile, the back of the car is thought to be inspired by Sindelfingen's 540K Spezial Roadster.

Despite having changed hands several times, the car is in a special condition. The engine, gearbox, and rear gardan are still native according to the serial number. The car has also undergone service before auctioning, with the fuel and brake system repaired and cleaned to work properly.
