Volkswagen Officially Sells Golf R Production Of CKD Malaysia, Here's The Performance And Price

JAKARTA - Volkswagen officially presented the 2024 Golf R model to the Malaysian market. Even more interestingly, the hatchback is a local assembled product (CKD) at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) factory.

Paultan reported, Tuesday, May 21, this model is the first golf to be assembled outside Germany. Previously, Golf R was sold in neighboring countries in the form of imports (CBU) since 2022.

The CKD version comes with a R Performance package that has a sporty look, such as the Akrapovic titanium exhaust, the rear wing, and the 19-inch Estoril rim with the 235/35R19 tires as standard. In addition, this car comes with automatic LED headlights and DRL LED.

Meanwhile, the inside is equipped with a 10-inch display with a Discover Pro system, 10-peaker, 480-watt sound system, and wireless charging pad charging. Furthermore, this hatchback has a three-zone air conditioner, active climate front seat, multi-functional sport steering wheel with a middle shift, head-up display, and five-themed ambient lighting.

The company also provided driver safety and assistance features in the form of seven airbags and IQ.Drive consists of various functions, Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), side assist with rear cross traffic alert, front assist, emergency assist, and lane assist.

VW Golf R is equipped with an EA888 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder of TSI which can pump up 320 ps of power at 5,600 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Its engine capability is powered by the transmission of seven dual-clutch accelerations and 4Motion all-wheel drives, so that Golf R can run from 0 to 100 km/hour in 4.8 seconds and is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 250 km/hour.

Offering advanced and high performance capabilities, VPCM costs 334,012 ringgit or around Rp1.1 billion. This car is the ideal competitor for Toyota GR Yaris and Honda Civic Type R.
