BMW To Launch Wheelbase Long Series-5 On January 25 In China

JAKARTA - BMW plans to bring in ten models in the Chinese market, six of which are a Series-5 model with a long wheelbase and four other models for i5 on January 25.

The manufacturer will bring in various variants of the sedan aimed at providing various choices and meeting consumer demand in China.

Reporting from Carnewschina, Jum'at, January 19, China's BMW Series-5 design has no difference with the global market, namely with a kidney grip and DRL lights that resemble a knife. This car will have a wheelbase measuring 3,105 mm so it offers a spacious space with elongated profiles and chrome decorations.

The back carries a minimalist design with a rear light that has a subtle visual effect. Then, there is a silver accent on the rear bumper that adds to the luxurious impression on this model.

The interior features luxury with a center console that is combined with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central screen. Then, flat-bottomed steering wheel is also offered to increase driver comfort.

Presented in six different variants, this long BMW Series-5 version of wheelbase will be offered with a 2.0T basis engine of 212 dk and a 287 dk high-power version. All types will be equipped with an eight-acceleration automatic transmission system.

Meanwhile, the i5 model as a pure electric vehicle (EV) will be offered with a single electric motor embedded in the back, thus generating 335 dk of power and can offer a distance of up to 567 km.

Both the Series-5 and i5 models of China's market specifications will be domestically assembled in a joint venture manufacturer of BMW and Brilliance which has been established since 2003. The joint venture has two factories planned to have a production capacity of more than 650,000 units. Currently, the facility assembles models such as Series-3, i3, Series-5, iX1, X1, iX3, X3, and X5L.
