JAKARTA - Maxus, a vehicle manufacturer from China, began introducing itself to the Indonesian automotive market a month ago at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
Maxus is trying to attract the attention of GIIAS 2023 visitors by launching the first electric-powered MPV, namely the Mifa 9, which is the first electric-powered premium MPV available in Indonesia.
Maxus is an automotive brand from China, which was founded in 2011 and is now owned by SAIC Motor, the parent company, which also owns brands such as Morris Garage (MG) and Roewe in the global market.
In Indonesia, this brand is represented by APM PT Indomobil Wahana Trada. Currently, the Mifa 9 is still the only Maxus model available in Indonesia.
Even though it only released one model, according to Andry Ciu, as Business Development at Indomobil Group, the Mifa 9 received a warm welcome because it was considered a suitable choice for environmentally friendly urban mobility.
"The response from the public is very positive, especially because the Mifa 9 is an electric vehicle that will be needed in Jakarta," said Andry when contacted by VOI, Monday, September 11.
Although it is stated that the Mifa 9 has received a positive response, the number of units ordered has not been announced. Andry stated that currently, they are still collecting data regarding orders for Mifa 9 units from various Maxus dealer networks in Jabodetabek.
"The exact data on order acquisition from dealers is in the process of being collected," added Andry.
Andry also confirmed that the Mifa 9 is not the only model that Maxus will present in the Indonesian market. However, he did not mention the number and next models that would be launched.
"Yes, we are considering it (launching the next model)," concluded Andry.
