JAKARTA - History today, five years ago, April 28, 2021, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Bahlil Lahadalia as Minister of Investment. Jokowi hopes that Bahlil can make investment enter Indonesia. Bahlil is also believed to be good at regulating regional regulations related to investment so that they are uniform.

Previously, Bahlil's contribution as a successful entrepreneur was unquestionable. That step made Jokowi appoint him to the Coordinating Board for Investment and Capital (BKPM). Bahlil is considered to be good at regulating investment regulations so that they can be even.

Bahlil's desire to succeed can be seen since he was a child. Bahlil has booked himself as a hard worker. He used to be a Koran loper to an angkot driver. These professions make him able to blame his dream of going to college.

He was able to study at the Faculty of Economics, STIE Port Numbay, Jayapura, Papua. The time of lectures made him a critical person and had many relationships. Education then made him an entrepreneur. In short, Bahlil emerged as a successful entrepreneur in Papua.

He was able to record his name in various business sectors - plantations, property, transportation, mining, to construction. These businesses have catapulted Bahlil's name onto the national stage. Bahlil then became the Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) in the 2015-2019 era.

Bahlil's greatness goes to the very end of President Jokowi. Jokowi considers Bahlil capable of advancing the business world in Indonesia. Bahlil is also seen as able to ignite the investment climate in Indonesia. Jokowi then appointed Bahlil to BKPM in 2019.

The inauguration has raised both pros and cons. Those who support it consider Bahlil to have the capacity to smooth Indonesia's investment climate. Those who are against it think that there are still many other more talented candidates. However, the government still encourages Bahlil to be part of the government.

"This means that his (Bahlil's) first task is to synchronize (the rules) of the center and the regions. Does the figure (Bahlil) fit? It fits. If (investments) go abroad, there is Mr. Luhut. It is really an out-of-the-box thinking from him (Jokowi)," said the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir as quoted by the lamankompas.com, November 24, 2019.

Bahlil's performance as the Head of BKPM is brilliant. he was able to use his experience to increase investment in regions. Bahlil's power was then strengthened by President Jokowi by giving Bahlil another big task.

Jokowi then merged BKPM into the Investment Ministry. The merger made Jokowi entrust the post of Minister of Investment to Bahlil. President Jokowi also appointed Bahlil as Minister of Investment at the State Palace on April 28, 2021.

The inauguration makes Jokowi hope a lot to Bahlil. Bahlil not only gets the task of growing the investment climate in the country. He is also obliged to find investors from abroad to invest in Indonesia.
